ADAM SJOBERG

Adam’s work spans dozens of countries and a wide variety of subject matter. His first film, Shake the Dust, a collaboration with rap superstar Nas, documents the lives and skills of breakdancing street kids from Yemen, Colombia, Ugandan, and Cambodia. I Am Sun Mu, his second feature film, follows a North Korean dissident-turned-artist as he prepares a harrowing art exhibition in China under the watchful shadow of the Chinese and North Korean governments.

Adam’s film and commercial work has often bridged the gap between the upper echelon of society and the streets. In 2016, he produced Kanye West’s fashion-show and album-release party for Life of Pablo, helping create the largest runway show in history and the massive release of West’s Yeezy Season 3 line. In 2019, Adam produced and edited a five-part series for Spotify about rapper 21 Savage, titled Monster, and in early 2021 he made his first foray into podcast production as co-lead producer on the innovative docu-series The Messenger for Spotify Studios, about Ugandan musician-turned-presidential-candidate Bobi Wine. His first narrative feature, The Falconer, which he co-directed with Seanne Winslow, will be released this year.

Songs of a Lost Island will be Adam’s fourth feature film. He has been traveling to American Samoa with Troy and Theodora Polamalu since 2011, documenting the island’s love for American Football.
